What is Taurus like in love?

Updated

Taurus loves slowly and steadily. They take their time deciding, and once they do, they build a whole life around you, with routines they genuinely enjoy. They’re a fixed earth sign ruled by Venus. Their tension sits between loving what’s familiar and bristling when someone rushes them or changes the rules overnight.

This page is about Taurus in general, about the Sun. Who you are, and how you love, is in your full chart.

Courtship at their own speed

On a third date, Taurus might drive twenty minutes out of the way to the taco truck they swear is the best in town. They hand you one and watch your face while you take the first bite. If you love it, you just passed a test you didn’t know you were taking.

Venus rules Taurus and gives them a real talent for pleasure. Good food, good sheets, a playlist that fits the evening. Sharing what they love is how they let you in. They can spend weeks on long dinners and slow walks before they make a move, and they don’t think of it as waiting.

Once they’re in, it shows physically. Taurus isn’t big on speeches, but they’ll hold your hand in the checkout line and plan the weekend around the hours you’ll have together.

What steadies them and what throws them

Taurus relaxes when they can see what’s coming. Which nights you’ll see each other. That Saturday’s plan is still on. That what you said in March still holds in August. The predictability other people find dull is what lets them breathe.

Pressure scares them. The “so what are we?” talk on date three. A surprise weekend away that rearranges their week without asking. A push to move in before they’re ready. When Taurus says no, it often means they haven’t finished deciding, and pushing only makes them firmer.

They also hate feeling replaceable. If they sense they’re being measured against an ex, or that your mood decides whether you’re close today, they pull in. Easy, uneventful time together brings them back faster than a long explanation.

Early, middle and late Taurus

Taurus gets cut into three decans of around ten days, and where each one begins moves a little year to year. An April-born Taurus has Venus twice over. They buy fresh flowers for a dinner for one, and they can spend a whole Saturday afternoon picking out sheets with you without getting bored.

Mid-season Taurus falls under Mercury, ruler of the Virgo decan. They talk more than you’d expect and read four reviews before booking a table. Other people’s mess bugs them, and they’re also the Taurus a good argument can actually move.

A Taurus with a birthday near the end of the sign answers to Saturn, through the Capricorn decan. They’re serious and often ambitious, and they want a partner to build a house or a business with. Their humor is dry and shows up once there’s trust. A lot of them soften with age, like they finally gave themselves permission.

Where it comes easy, and where it takes patience

A Taurus and a Capricorn can spend a Sunday assembling a bookshelf, barely talking, and both remember it as a great day. Between earth signs the practical stuff doesn’t need explaining. Water brings another kind of chemistry. A Cancer puts feeling into Taurus’s routines, and Taurus gives Cancer solid ground to stand on.

With fire, it’s about speed. An Aries wants to hit a second party, and Taurus wants one more drink in the same chair. With air, it’s about where each one lives. A Gemini lives in ideas and Taurus lives in what they can touch, so sometimes they’re talking from different floors of one building. It works when neither demands the other move all the way.

Taurus is also fixed, like Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. That means plenty of loyalty and stubbornness squared. If both plant their feet, a week can go by with nobody budging. They do better agreeing, while things are calm, on who gets the last word about what.

What a Taurus Sun can’t show you

Everything above describes the Sun in Taurus. It’s a big piece, but you’re your whole chart, and two Taurus can be very different partners.

Venus, the ruler of Taurus, always stays close to the Sun but can land in a neighboring sign. The Moon and Mars can be anywhere, and the Ascendant needs your exact birth time. A Taurus with the Moon in Aries, for example, still loves their routines, but they get restless fast when they feel ignored and say so on the spot.

I read all of that in the Birth Chart. Tell me when and where you were born, down to the minute if you can find it, and I’ll write you how you love, Moon and Ascendant included, along with everything your Sun leaves out.

Questions

  • They can be, mostly when something they think of as theirs feels at risk. Their jealousy tends to be quiet. They get more watchful and ask less than they’re thinking. How strong it runs depends on their Moon and Mars, and it eases a lot when the relationship feels steady.
